Field Testing

Re-drafting and re-drafting my main shirt pattern all last week, and making a lot of muslins.  Trying to fix some fit issues. So no sewing to show.

Instead here's some "field testing" we did this past weekend.

Tab Collar Workshirts, revisions 3 and 4, selvedge chambray

Collar isn't right, but I've figured out why.

Wild Persimmons in the Cemetery

We've recently "discovered" two wild persimmon trees in the local cemetery - they are really delicious!  Very sweet, but with notes of citrus and vanilla.  Much more flavor than the store bought kind in my opinion.

I'm hoping to make some preserves soon, and I've read that the roasted seeds can be made into a coffee/tea-like beverage.

Weekend Project

Finally made time to finish the duvet this past weekend.  All hand-dyed with natural indigo. It's darker than it appears in this image.

Tab Collar Workshirt, Brown Flannel Chambray

Started this shirt about five weeks ago, but got busy with work stuff.  Trying out a few different things - attempting sleeve plackets, using the double needle chainstitch machine for more things, etc.  Collar didn't work out, but other things were good.

Wish I had more of this fabric.  It's from a sheet I got at a thrift store in Jacksonville.
