Natural Indigo Bandanas

Here's the first successful test batch of natural indigo bandanas.  Still some more tests to go.

After much struggle trying to properly discharge the natural indigo pigment, I'm now willing to wager money that most of the "indigo" bandanas you'll find in the premium market are either synthetic indigo or screenprinted.

By the way, check out the inspiration for this bandana here: http://segui-riveted.blogspot.com/2010/08/salvaged-relic1800s-bandanna.html

A-1 Jeans, experimental

Testing out the pattern for a custom pair of jeans that I'll be making soon.

Also tried a few different things, like top-stitching over the serged inseam and constructing a selvedge fly.  Tried some different single-needle seam construction techniques for the seat seam as well.

These are for sale in my Etsy shop.

Utility Pants, Westernized - post soak

Warm soak and line dry.  Definitely adds some character.

These are for sale in my Etsy shop, and can be seen at Old North, in downtown Asheville.

Market Bag, Japanese Selvedge Denim and Indigo Striped Canvas

Finished drafting a pattern for some custom jeans this afternoon and had a little extra time; so tried out another idea for the grocery bag.

This one will be going in my Etsy shop.

Here's a few snapshots of the Western Utilities I just finished for Slowboat Deadstock.

Carpenter Apron, Selvedge Denim, v. 5

I think this will be the final version of the carpenter apron.  Now to make a machinists apron, and a general shop apron.

The denim for this piece is a narrow width 2x1 weave that's woven with a gray weft.  It's pretty close in look to some of the vintage/antique pieces of denim that I have, though the texture is a little smoother and more even than the vintage stuff.  I'm looking forward to making some vests and chore coats out of it.
